Omuhwera, meaning “abundant” or “plentiful,” is a standout coffee
from the Rwenzori Mountains region of Uganda. Known as the
“Mountains of the Moon,” this range borders the Democratic
Republic of the Congo and offers fertile volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and consistent rainfall, ideal conditions for growing high-quality Arabica coffee. The coffee is cultivated by smallholder farmers working on family plots averaging 1–2 hectares. These farmers handpick only the ripest cherries, which are floated and carefully sorted before being dried on raised beds at Kirugu Station.
