Kenya Tambaya

Tambaya Coffee Factory sits on the banks of the Gura River - reputed to be the fastest-flowing river in Africa - which has its source in the western side of the Aberdare mountain ranges in Nyeri County's Mukurwe‑ini area. Planted on the east-facing slopes of these ranges, the coffee trees receive ample morning sunshine, creating an optimal microclimate that contributes to the lot's exceptionally fine cup profile. Tambaya operates under the Rumukia cooperative umbrella, aggregating cherries from hundreds of small farms dotting the high-altitude terraced hills. Deep red volcanic soils, cool night temperatures, and thick morning mists slowing cherry maturation create ideal conditions for high-acidity coffees.
